Hello dears!This is my Guest designer post for August 2020. My project is a 3D mixed media canvas called 'Lunar Moments'. I have symbolised the dreamcatcher and the moon face designs as dreams.We have to work hard to achieve them in these testing times. This is a step by step explanation of how I created this project 1I took the Moonface and dreamcatcher resin embellishments from the store and painted them with black gesso. 2. I then arranged all the elements on the project base to form a composition. 3. I used Purple Chalk paint and coloured the moonface and dream catcher resin embellishment and green metallic wax for the gears. 4. I also used green chalk paint to create highlights for the base of the project· II added a few sequins and small diecuts to give a unique look to the project. This is the completed project. The Random Arts products used in the project are: Finnabair Cresent Moons and Large Dreamcatcher. Keep smiling and happy crafting!

This months mood board was a little bit of a challenge for me. The purple and green colour combination is not usually colours i combine. However i'm totally happy with the end result of this Altered Candle Holder. I started out with this very plain, gothic looking Candle Holder i've had laying around my house for many years. I covered the whole project with a good layer of white gesso. I also painted (2 crafty) chipboards, resins and a clay face i had in my stash. I used LUMIERE (halo-violet gold) acrylic paint on all the pieces. I left a white edge on the candle holder so i could use lindy's sprays and wax to create a lush green. I also used a combination of Purple Hues Lindy's sprays over the acrylic paint. Full list of products available at the end of the blog. I used a combination of green hues in the lindy's range to create a lush colour i was happy with. I also added a little Magical Shakers to add highlights then finally some (mint sparkle) wax until i was happy. I did the same process on the chipboards. I also added a little of the (Electric Violet) Wax to all the purple Embellishments. I used a sofy brush to add the purple wax and my finger to rub on the mint wax I also added moss, mini prills, used alot more (mint Sparkle) wax to highlight and flat back purple gems. PRODUCTS USED;

Hi everyone!! Here i am with some inspiration to make a beautiful mixed media canvas. I called it Let Go. I have used some random stuff i had and i am sure you can find some nice products and goodies in the random arts webshop to make a similar canvas!! This is what i made: Honestly the pictures dont show the colours too well. But, it is what it is.. If you are curious how i made it, you can read how, from here ;) I started to write some stuff doen that was on my mind... i had to vent a bit ;) hence the name 'Let Go'. After this i glued down some tissuepaper with gel medium, Making some texture on the canvas. When it was dry i used a stencil with a script and some modeling paste... Due to the very hot weather here it was almost all dried up :( After that, i covered it in black gesso and tied some rope around it. Then i glued some bottle caps down because i wanted some dimension. i used some packaging and peeled of the top layer so it shows the … what's the word... the waves? I put some modeling paste in areas and glued some cheesecloth down. Then it was time to start decorating. I didnt think about it too much and just went with it. grabbed lots of stuff that i had in my stash like buttons, bottle caps. some metal embellishments, wooden shapes etc. After this, of course more BLACK GESSO. I love that stuff!! And when that was dry, its time to add colour. I used a green tone as the basecolour. I didnt worry about getting the green paint in every nook and cranny. I like the effect it gives with the black gesso. Like a shade or something. After the green i went in with a really soft brown tone, almost a crème colour. I also used some rust pastes and of course waxes. Whats a mixed media canvas without the finnabair waxes! And this is the result: Thats it guys, i hope you like it. If you have any questions, just let me know. If you are looking for some nice products to make a canvas like this, check out the webshop on www.randomarts.au

Wouldnt that be cool?! Thanks for checking my post! Hey there lovely people! Today I'm sharing my new DT layout for this month's Random Arts Moodboard, which is full of beautiful purple and green tones. For this layout I used two different card stocks. I fussy cut around the doily on the top card stock and placed the plain purple card stock underneath it. For the background I used a stencil with embossing texture paste and I placed some purple framed paper behind my photos for some matting. I also lightly distressed the edges. Once I adhered my photo's, I arranged my cut outs and flowers around them. I used Lindy's magical shaker to colour the flower resins and I heat embossed the flower chipboards. Once everything was in place, I finished off the layout by adding some sparkly green beads and glitter around randomly. I hope you like this layout, if you want to participate in this month's Moodboard Challenge for your chance to win a $25 store voucher or a guest designer spot, you can enter on the Facebook page. This months mood board is simply stunning. Teal and copper are two of my personal favourite colour combinations. As i love these colours so much i just had to create two Altered bottles. I basically used the same products on both bottles, just in different ways. I started buy lightly sanding an old rose bottle with rough sand paper. I then gave it a good coat of crackly paste. I then used a combination of rust paste and lindy's spray to achieve the perfect copper/rust look i was after. Over a couple of days i played around with a mixture of lindy's sprays. I used Flat Pabio (ocean breeze blue) as the base colour. I then worked in (tibetan poppy teal, azure sea asters, time travel teal) as well as using starburst squirts (banff blue), this was fantastic to work over the rust areas with a stiff brush. I also used a little of (bayou boogie gold) over the rust to give it a darker/richer colour. Then i went a little crazy with fun things. I used finnabair wax (old denim and peacock) over old jewellery and chipboards. Full list of products at the end of the blog. I used rust and green coloured moss, rust painted resins and mini prills to decorate. With my second bottle i also used a rough sand paper, this helps the gesso or crackle paste stick tot eh bottle. I used white gesso with this bottle. I used a thick, soft brush to dab the gesso on, leaving beautiful patterns. I also used two fabric doileys to add a little more texture. I added an old embellishment from an old hand bag and a crown resin. I wanted to make this bottle a little brighter than the first one. I started out using finnabair opal magic (teal) as the base. I then went over it with squirts and sprays. Again i worked with all the colours i used on the first bottle., just in reverse. Again, i went a little crazy with product. I used the same as the first bottle. Rust covered resins, jewellery, beads, mini prills, moss and chip boards. There you go. Two Altered rose bottles, Teal and copper.

Hello everybody! I have for you today videotutorial on the assemblage on the wood.. I started by sticking a mesh on the background and applying a texturing light paste over it over the template. I painted the base and other components made of resin and cardboard with black gesso. I layered the components on the base. I gradually painted 3 shades of LSG on assemblage. I painted some places with a glitter finish and sprinkled with glitter. In the end, I highlighted the raised places with gold metallic acrylic paint. You can see the whole process on video: I used this material: light paste black gesso LSG Tiffany Lou Blue LSG Lucky Shamrock Green LSG Tibetan Poppy Teal art alchemy Metallique Gold Rush glitter finish glitter Thank you for visiting and have a nice day!
Hey there fellow crafters! Today I have a new DT layout I've created for Random Arts. I hope you all like it. I must admit, it is one of my favorites :) I really wanted the bright pastel colours to stand out, so I used a black card stock which made them pop. On the black card stock I used some magical powders but this layout was created around the clock frame and the pearl chipboard, as they were the two stand outs for this layout. I heat embossed all the chipboard, as well as the title and added glitter to the flourishes to make them sparkle and stand out a little more. I placed some lace around the layout for something different and arranged all my fussy cutting elements around the page before adding my flowers on top. I also used magical powders on the flower resins, which turned out great. To finish off my layout, I added some some white micro beads and crystals. I hope you enjoyed this post, feel free to leave a comment and I'll have a new layout for you all again soon. Until then, happy crafting! Mel x Random Arts Product's Used
