As im sure you can tell im absolutely in love with the colours of this months mood board. This being so i just couldn't help myself but to create a second mood board blog. I glued down some brown butchers paper and used gesso through a brick stencil. I do apologise for not taking any progress pictures for the next few steps. I decided that i didn't like the brick pattern so i roughly cut out squares placing them on the bottom left and top right of the canvas. I then used small round clay balls from a decorative vase i found at a garage sale, grouping them in a curve across the canvas. You could also use artist stones to achieve this look. I also added a cute chip board butterfly to the top. I then covered the whole canvas in black gesso. Once dry i painted the canvas with Icing paste (Mystic Turquoise). Then is used lindy's sprays (Tibetan Poppy Teal and Azure Sea Asters) Then i used Lindy's spray (Time Travel Teal) on the butterfly and other places around the canvas. The spray has a silver look to it against the amazing blues of the canvas. I adore Lindy;s sprays. Experimenting with them is such a joy. The way the pigments change depending on the background colour is truly stunning. Again i apologise for the lack of progress pictures. I then used dimension paint on the butterfly to give it some depth. Once dry i used finnabair wax (fire bird) all over the canvas. I use my finger to add the wax however you can use a small soft brush. I also used dimension paint on the feather chip board. I then painted it with the icing paste before rubbing it with the wax. Oh sorry i forgot to mention i also used a foam leaf sticker i found laying on my table. I added this at the same time as the foam strips. I rubbed the wax around the edges of the strips, the leaf, and the small clay balls. I did use a small brush on the clay balls to get the wax into the crevasses. I used white cotton thread to create a nest to place under the feather chip board. Using the little clay balls was fun however in the future i would definitely use artist stones. (available in store) I had painted this chip board with brown rust paint for another project but changed my mind. I lightly dusted off the rust paste then rubbed it all over with finnabair wax (fire bird) I also added white thread as a nest to place under the chip board. I then added small white beads around the canvas. Mainly focusing arounf the feathers and words. I also rubbed the fire bird wax around the edges of the canvas.
So there we go. Thank you very much for viewing my blog. I hope you get as inspired as i was by this months mood board and give it ago. These art works of yours are really impressive. I know that there are lots of people out there who are going to criticize it, but do not let that stop you. If you ask me, it is important that we are able to enjoy what we have right now. I know that you are thinking of ways to improve our work, and it all depends on what we do. I hope that you find what you want to do to improve.
