moodboard june in my art journal

6/26/2020

Hello everyone!

How are you doing? This month we have a lovely moodboard. I love those colours. I decided to make something in my art journal, A simpel and quick page, great if you are starting with art journaling. Here we are having a heatwave in the Netherlands so my craftroom is TOO hot, even my heattool gave up... it got overheated after 20 seconds! So i did my best to make something of course with some lovely products i got from random arts.

Picture
I ended up not using the enemal ( although its one of my favourite products…. next time)
So i started to stamp the background of the page wit a stamp from my stash. Just stamping randomly.
Picture
It;s ok if its not fully apearing, i like the incomplete look. And its the backround so i will add more layers to it.
After this, i went in with a lindy;s spray in soft pink, and ades some soft pink paint to cover up some of the stamping. i used a kitchen towel and just dabbed the paint on.
Picture
After this i used some distress paint and dabbed this on there too. Dried it, and went back in with the soft pink paint and spray.
Picture
I also did some stenciling and stamping
Picture
Now its time to make the focal point. I m using a stencil from colour blast. I will mix some texture paste with some  brown pigment powder.
I will use this on my stencil. After this i add some washi, flowers and a sentiment wih the tim holtz stickers i had in my stash. I didn't turn out the way i wanted... But thats ok. Its a process, i had fun anyway and that's  what counts! Who knows i might go back in later to add things. That's the fun part of an art journal! So here is the final page!

Random arts products:
- colour blast stencil ColourBlast Collections
- lindy's sprays Lindy's Stamp Gang
- distress paint Tim Holtz

I hope you enjoyed this artjournal page! Have a nice weekend!

June Mood board Challenge

Picture
This months mood board is a beautiful dusty, vintage pink. I'm slowly falling in love with pink after my most recent purchase of a beautiful pink mandala bed spread, so i created something to hang on mt bedroom wall in the same colour. Perfectly timed mood board.
Picture
I started out by covering the canvas in a think layer of white gesso. I then used texture paste through this really cool dusty attic stencil.
Picture
I then used a combination of the following Lindy's sprays.
(Bougainvillea Fuchsia, Alpine Ice Rose, Prima Donna Purple, Yellow Rose of Texas).
The sides of the canvas are framed in the Fuchsia. I then tried something new. I Rubbed down the edges of my canvas with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Walnut Stain), i also used a soft brush and slowly dabbed the ink through a stencil. Giving an almost vintage lace look to the canvas. I really loved how well this worked out.
Picture
I adore how much the Yellow and Purple shimmer as you move around the canvas, Definitely a favourite colour combination of mine.
Picture
I used The Dusty Attic chip boards and kaiserkraft purple paper flowers, as well as this stunning fabric flower i had sitting on my craft table, i knew i'd use that eventually. I painted the chip boards and flowers in white gesso. I then added some Pearl Ex Pigment Powder (scarlet) to some gesso and lightly painted the leaf chip boards. I also lightly painted the larger chip board around the edges. I then lightly brushed the large chip board with white gesso again, adding some Halo Glitter (gold) to give it some texture and shimmer.
Picture
I rubbed the flowers, chip boards and flowers with the Distress Ink. I also rubbed the Pearl Ex mixed with gesso around the tips of the flower petals. I collected a few randomarts resins and painted them with a combination of the various Lindy's sprays already used on the canvas. I also added a Tim Holtz word, i believe is from an ideaology pack.
Picture
I also added some fabric twine/string for lack of a better word. I wish i knew what it's called and where i got it from. I used white and purple as well as some flat back pearls in white and grey.
Picture
I then decided that i wanted the chip boards to have some more texture and depth to them so i painstakingly  painted some artist wax (white gold and rose gold) onto the chip board edges with a soft small brush. I then rubbed the brush onto the flower tips. Definitely happy that i did.

Thank you all so much for viewing my blog. Creating this was a treat. Please see below a full list of products used here today. Also check out the website www.randomarts.com.au for more amazing products.

Hey there lovely people!
I hope you are all well and have found some time lately to be creative.
I'm here today sharing my new DT layout for Random Arts, I hope you enjoy looking at it.
Picture
So I have been wanting to try some crackling paste on my layouts for some time now and I finally did it on this one. I used it on the background stenciling and in the next photo you'll see that it did crack but because it's through a stencil it's not as noticeable as I wanted it to be unless you zoom in on it or look closely. It takes a long time to set, so bare that in mind if and when you try it.
Picture
I heat embossed the chipboard title and I painted the resin flowers to match the colour scheme.
Picture
Picture
I also embossed the flower chipboard. I did a fair bit of embossing on this layout which made it very fun to create.
Picture
I hope you liked my latest layout and it inspires you in some way to keep crafting too.

Until next time...happy crafting!

June Free Post. Steampunk Letter

6/13/2020

Picture
Hello my happy crafters. I'm back with another steampunk piece. This time a letter R.
Unlike my last Steampunk piece where i used only Lindy's sprays this time i used Rust paste.... Enjoy
Picture
I started out by covering the whole thing with black gesso and was intending in covering all the embellishments with black gesso but decided to cover it all it white texture paste. I attached resins, cogs, an old bag buckle, chipboards, and flowers.
Picture
I covered the piece in white texture paste then used Finnabair icing paste (mystic Turquoise). I love the amazing shimmer this paste has.
Picture
I then used Prima marketing Opal Magic (rose-bleu). At this point i was hoping to go with a rustic french feel but i wasn't happy with the look so i continued to add colour with Lindy's sprays and used the prima marketing rust paste trio. I started with the dark brown, then the red and high lighted with the yellow.
Picture
I added a tone of Lindy's spray (starburst sweet violet purple teal) and (moon shadow mist Treasure island aqua). I also added some Kaiserkrafy paper blooms (grape). I also continued to work in the rust paste. Going back over all the rusted areas with the same process as previously mentioned.
Picture
I then decided to rust paste Everything. I left patches of colour so i could highlight with the sweet velvet. I sprayed this colour onto my messy mat and used a soft brush to dab the colour onto desired places. I love this colour, that amazing teal colour just pops on a dark back ground.
Picture

I absolutely adore how this turned out. Adding the rust paste to all of the embellisments was definitely a fantastic idea. I hope you like this project as much as i did creating it. Below is a list of products available in store. www.randomarts.com.au

Steampunk mini canvas

6/9/2020

hello there!

I'm back today with a little mini canvas, steampunk style. My favourite!
I've used some mitform castings, a resin frame and a wooden word: Awesome. From the random arts shop. And some little bits and pieces from my stash.
Picture
Don't you just love that squid!!!

I started to colour my mini canvas with crackle paint aged mahogoy. I had this in my stash. Make sure you put a thick layer is you want bigger cracks. (yes i know how this sounds) Remember, the more paint, the bigger the cracks.
Picture
i let this dry over night as using a heat tool doesn't work. Then i went in with some lindy's sprays. I used some purple and red tones. To match the mahogony.
Picture
Then it was time to colour the decoration pieces. First i covered everything with black gesso. This, to make everything the same colour and give more depth. Then i sprayed everything with the same sprays and used some waxes to accent the reliëfs and make it a bit more shiny.
Now it's time to glue everything down. I use my glue gun. But if you are more patiënt (:P) you can use matt medium for example.
Picture
Before i glue it down i Always lay everything down to check where exactly i want it. After i everything was glued down, i went back in with some wax to make some areas like the edges stand out a bit more. And this is the end result!
Products used from random arts:
- wooden word Wooden Shapes
- frame  Resin Creations

- metal embellishments (squid and anchor) Metal Objects & Charms

- waxes Finnabair Waxes

- lindy's sprays Lindy's Stamp Gang

All the other embellishments and mediums are from my stash.

I hope you like it. Till next time!
