Hey there! I'm so excited to be sharing my first layout for the Random Arts 2020 Design Team with you all! I absolutely love scrapbooking and I hope you love what I have to share with you this year :) This layout was inspired by the beautiful oval resin frame available in store. I loved it so much I made all other elements work around it.. Chipboard is something I love adding to my layouts, they are very versatile and give so much texture to any project. On this layout I have used quite a bit of chipboard- some which I embossed and others I painted. You'll see in the background I did some stencilling, another favourite thing of mine to do on my layouts. I use white modelling paste to do this, I find it really gives a great 3D effect. I love using embellishments on my layouts, especially flowers! I love to layer my flowers to give it more of a 3D effect- like they are jumping off the page. So I hope you all enjoyed my first post, please see the list of supplies I used below, most are available in store so feel free to check them out! Until next time..... Mel x Products Used

Hello everybody! I'm here with my first post for Random Arts and i'm very happy to be here. First of all happy new year to all of you. Let's make it a creative year! I made a canvas according to the january moodboard. At the end of my post you will find a list with all the products that i have used. I used products from the store of course and some products that i had in my stash. I started to spray the canvas with a lindy's stamp gang spray to get rid of the white background. The colours i will use are already very colourful and by doing this it will reduce the brightness of the colour just a little bit. After that, i added crackle paste in some areas. Since its better to let the paste dry without a heattool, i let it dry overnight. Look what a lovely cracks it made. So now its time to start preparing some fabric that i want to use on the canvas. I cut a piece as big as i want it to be. And wet it just a little bit. That way the sprays will blend in better with the fabric. I used lindy's sprays again. It gets a bit messy, but no worries. You can put some paper towels underneath the fabric to catch some of the spray. That way it is less messy. The spray is easily removed with water. I let it dry while i start to work on my canvas some more. I m going to use some seashells from my stash and a chipboard background from the store. So it's time to paint them in suitable colours. First i put a coat of heavy gesso before i put the paint. I used paint from my stash and also art alchemy acrylic paints from finnabair. So when done, its time to let that dry and start spraying my canvas and play arround with the lay out. Sometimes its good to try different options for the lay out and see what you like best. You might surprise yourself sometimes! It might give you new ideas too. So while i was playing arround i figured it out and sorry to say i forgot to make a picture of a step in between… but i wrapped some twine arround my canvas after glueing the fabric down. There are 3 layers. Some "burlap. from my stash, coffeedyed cheesecloth and then the fabric i sprayed with the lindy's sprays. Then i wrapped the twine arround it. This just went well with the whole sea/ beach theme i thought. Now it's time to start placing my shells and chipboard backround where i want them. After doing this i glued it down with gel medium and my gluegun. As the big shells are quite heavy, i needed it to stick really well, hence the gluegun. I used ths moss and the teeny tiny adorable seashells from the store, to fill up the big shells. Isn't that just cute! I glued them down with gel medium. This does take some time to dry but it gives you the oppurtunity to move them arround a little until you are happy. Then i used some texturepaste with a stencil in the background. After this i used some creme beads form my stash to act like pearls in the shells. I also put some flatback Pearls to add some more interest to the background and let it blend in toghether a bit more. For a finishing touch i used art alchemy wax arround the border and to put some highlights here and there, And voilá, this is the results: And here are some close ups -List of supplies (store): - art alchemy paint Finnabair Paint - art alchemy wax Finnabair Waxes - heavy gesso Finnabair Pastes and Mediums - chipboard Chipboard - Lindy's stamp gang sprays Lindy's Stamp Gang - little seashells and moss Embellishments & Ephemera Click on the links to see a variaty of options on the product! Hi everyone! I'm super excited to be sharing my first project as part of the Random Arts Design Team for 2020. This project started out as a layout, then a mini canvas before finally coming a journal cover. I love decorating my journal covers, it not only makes them a work of art on their own, but also more personal too. Here is my finished journal cover. I went steampunk for this cover, I love all things mechanical especially products from Mitform Castings. Random Arts is a Mitform Castings stockist and has a great variety of products perfect for any steampunk project. I've included a basic tutorial on how I created this cover. All products used are listed below and available from Random Arts unless otherwise specified eg personal stash. To start I've taken a stencil and lightly added some texture paste randomly across the cover. Next I've added the cogs chipboard and blueprint title and adhered the to the cover. Cover this layer with a coat of black gesso. Add the next layer of embellishments. This includes resins, Mitform Castings pieces and any other embellishments that you would like to add. Coat this layer with black gesso. Once you are happy with your embellishments and everything is covered in black gesso, randomly dry brush three or four acrylic paint colours of your choice. You can overlap colours to give them a soft blend. For my cover I have used Dylusions paint, it gave a nice chalky affect when finished. Once I was happy with the colours I lightly brushed some Finnabair Wax over all embellishments but leaving the rest of the cover plain. This will make your embellishments pop as well as adding some extra dimension and shine. If you would like to see more close up photos, please visit my blog.

It was such a joy to create this Altered frame. Simply LOVE this colour pallet. ![]() I started by covering the chip board backing with book pages and lightly brushing it with white gesso. I also lightly roughed up the frame with sand paper before brushing it with gesso. ![]() I then used black and white washi tape, strips of plasters tape, white gesso through stencils and stamps with black ink. I then mixed white gesso with beads and white gesso on these adorable resin frames available in store. Once placing the frames down i spread the bead/gesso mixture around the frames and chip board backing. Then i used Lindy's magical shaker {Bavarian Blue}. Again so much fun to use. I also used a range of Lindy's sprays {Bayou Boogie Gold, Tibetan Poppy teal, Glory of the seas gold, Ocean breeze, Blue violet vintage} ![]() I added this adorable dragonfly resin {available in store}. I used Lindy's spray {Cathedral Pines green) and the {Tibetan teal}. I also used a variety of little birdie flowers. ![]() I also used these really cool rope flowers. I have no idea where i got these from sorry. I also added flat back pearls in white and gold. These are the fantastic products i used in this project. All available in store now. I hope you enjoyed this project and my take on this months mood board. Sending you all much love and joy.
