Hey there!

I'm back on the blog today with a layout for the January moodboard challenge.

This months colours were very bright and colourful, I loved the moodboard and this having been my first moodboard challenge, I now understand why it has that title. Having not worked with such bright colours before, I found this layout quite challenging which was great- I do love a good challenge to get me out of my comfort zone, so I hope you all like the end result.
Picture
The card stock I chose to use already had some of the moodboard colours on it which was a great start. It had so many great elements already that I didn't need to add any stencilling or mixed media, just some simple machine stitching
Picture
Some of the flowers used were Little Birdie 'Natalie Vivid Palette' and they were the exact colours I needed to match the moodboard colours so if you want a crack at the moodboard challenge (there's still time!), check out these flowers in store at Random Arts now.
Picture
And what's a layout without some chipboard or little accents here and there? The beautiful heart shaped chipboard worked so well with this photo, as did the little shells which I painted dark blue. Look closely and you'll see a lot more within the clusters. I used some cheesecloth and art stones too.
Picture
So if you havn't seen this month's moodboard yet, then here it is again. You have until 31st January to get your entry in here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/111931106102590/
And remember, you could win a $25 Random Arts store voucher! Good luck everyone!

Until next time...

January Free post 'Feminine Steampunk'

                                   Hello everybody!

Today i'm here with a new post with of course some lovely products from random arts and also some stuff from my stash.. It's a steampunk peace with some lovely flowers. In the picture below you can see some of the goodies i ve used. I planned on using all of these but ended up not using the flowers, the nuvo drops and the frame. But still wanted to show them as they are veryyy cute!

Picture
Picture
So let me tell you how i made this. It was a bulletin board with a plastic frame i bought somewhere in a cheap store. I had it for a couple of years but thought this would work very well for this project. First i used the die cuts and cut some paper in different sizes. I will use this as the background.
Picture
Then i glued some of the paper cuts down with modpodge. I needed a strong glue because the board will suck up some of the glue… After that i glued 1 layer of a napkin on the board in the middle to create some texture. I gave all this a coat of black gesso after it was dry.
Picture
After doing this i wripped some pieces from a box and peeled of the top layer. Then glued it down in 2 corners. Of course i also covered this with black gesso.
Picture
i had an old chipboard photoalbum laying arround from maya road. I wanted to use this to trace arround to get some gears. Because, hey, its steampunk!!
Picture
Now time for some fun and playing. Where to put all of the pieces!? So i just play arround and see what i like. Then i glue it down and cover it in guess what, .. black gesso!
Picture
As you see i used flowers. They are just cheap home deco foam flowers from my stash. I like the way they pop out. It gives a nice dimension to the piece. Of course they add different colours so i first covered them in black gesso before glueing them down. Thats because if you glue them down first, its difficult to get everything black. And thats what we want!
Picture
Time to add some colour!!
I used lindy's stamp gang sprays ( open arms amethist, van dyke sepia, burnt umber, moonlit mulberry, burnished brass and buccaneer bronze) To see the available sprays i will put a link below the post.
To highlight some areas i used finnabairs waxes (aged brass, fire ruby and rich copper).
And also some art alchemy acrylic paint : rose gold.
Picture
As you see i also added some metal pieces and resin pieces. Some where from the shop,, others from my stash. I particularly like the pipes which you will see in another picture.
Picture
,I glued the pieces i wanted, down and highlighted them too. So they would connect better with the rest of the piece. Then wanted to add some swirls and words. I decided i really wanted them to pop. So i used embossing enamel aged bronze for this and oooh how i like this stuff! First time i used it but now  i m in love! I covered the pieces in black gesso. Went in with some of the sprays and then used embossing ink and the enamel. To make it melt i used my heat tool.
Picture
I glued these on the piece with my glue gun. And then it was time for the frame. It was a white plastic frame, so i put some black gesso on. ( 2 layers) and let it dry very well. Then i went in with some metalic bronze paint from my stash. I just put a thin layer on. let it dry and put another thin layer on. This will give it an aged look. Then i went back in with the gesso in the corner parts to add some shade and make it look older. Then removed most of it again with a babywipe. That way only a little gesso will remain in the right places.
Picture
Picture
What i difference with the white frame huh! Now i add some of the waxes again to make it shine a bit more and add some colour. I did have to fixate it with some spray varnish as it was on plastic. I used a matt version.
Picture
I let it dry overnight, put the piece in it, et Voilà
Picture
I do have to say, the pictures don't do the colours justice because of the lighting. But i hope you like it! It's a vry detailed piece, so lots to see!

January Mood Board Challenge - You Had Me at Meow

1/20/2020

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing my inspiration project as part of the Random Arts Challenge. Every month there will be a mood board to follow for inspiration.

Here is my take on January's mood board. I've used the ginger cat from the mood board which was perfect because I have a ginger cat. Instead of starfish, I've used stars which have been randomly stamped at three points. For the background I just swiped some Bee Arty (Colour Blast) spray with a paintbrush, a bit of stenciling and added some splutters as contrast. The colours used were also based on the mood board. I then added a die cut, some chipboard and photo mat to finish the layout. The chipboard has been coloured with White Gesso, then a mix of Colour Blast Colour Spray in Saffron with some Colour Blast Shimmer Dust in Sunflower.

All items used are available from Random Arts Pty Ltd unless otherwise specified e.g. personal stash.

Hello my lovely crafty friends.  This little rainbow bo-ho beauty is mt free blog post for January.
Picture
I started by romoving the glass from a small frame and hot gluing the chip board backing to the frame. I then used lots of white gesso to cover the whole thing.
Picture

I then used texture paste, a stencil and lace to create fun texture to the artwork. I then covered it all with white gesso.

I then sprayed the frame with lush lindy's sprays.
The colours i used are (cathedral Pines green, Autumn Maple Crimson, Yellow rose of Texas and Prima Donna Purple). I gave places multiple sprays with the yellow to create an amazing orange.
Picture

I used little birdie flowers and mitform castings to embellish the frame.  I found this beautiful gypsy image during a google image search. I also used a cute butterflybutton.

Circular Tag

1/14/2020

Hello everyone !

I am pleased to be in the design team and create mixed media I love :-)
For my first post I prepared a circular tag according to the January moodboard...

First I applied light paste to the cardboard base through template..

Picture

I glued chipboards from Blue Fern Studios to it and I painted the entire object with Finnabair's Impasto and Acrylic Paint Sparks. Both colors were teal shades. I alternated matt and shiny color
Picture
Picture

Some Mitform Castings I painted the rust effect paste from Finnabair. And when the paint had dried, I glued the castings to the project.

Picture
As a top layer I used a clock face chioboard which I also painted with turquoise colors.
Picture
I decorated the tag with flowers under which I put the organza. At first I shredded a little. Finally I glued the bow.
Picture
I brushed the flowers with a transparent gel and gently sprinkled the glitters
